Given the support geometry, a structural topological optimization study is performed. The process looks for the best geometrical distribution of a density supporting the deflection under the horizontal slab. After some iterations and tunning, a fine minimal branching is found and 2 manufacturing processes are proposed.
Once the density organisation is found, 2 manufacturing strategies emerge to provide a feasible and cost-effective realisation of the diagram. (model A3 and A4)
While the pragmatical original grid only needs welding, the bended alternatives proposes less welding hours, and a better load transfer and horizontal rigidity due to the diagonalisation.
